City, and is the third largest community in the Northern California coastal

its 2,200 acres of wetlands. Rohner Park in downtown has a roller rink,
sports fields, picnic areas, playgrounds, a Railroad
Museum and is also the site for many of the towns events.
Grizzly
Creek Redwood State Park offers camping, fishing and swimming. The Eel
River Valley area is the perfect spot for whale watching, birding, hiking
or canoeing, taking in the beautiful and wild scenery as you go.
Local Events
Attend one of the monthly concert series or check out Art & Wine in
the Park sponsored by the Rotary Club. There is plenty of competition in
the annual Paddle
to the Headwaters on the Eel River. The annual Rodeo,
the oldest rodeo in the west is a week-long festival packed full of events.
The Autorama is a three-day show complete with parade, flea market, food
and more. Other events include the Pacific Regional Daffodil Spectacular
and the Apple Harvest Festival.
Shopping and Dining
For one stop shopping, the Redwood Village Shopping Center has it all. Large
chain stores, unique gift shops, restaurants and professional services from
banks to pharmacies are located in this center.
A number of antique and art shops as well are located downtown. There are
many great restaurants in town, ranging from fast food to Mexican to steak
and seafood and great coffee shops just to name a few. Locals can even take
cooking class at the River Lodge Cooking School, where classes are taught
weekly.
Nearby Attractions
With close proximity to other great towns in the Humboldt Bay area, many fantastic
sites are but a short drive away. Eureka,
the largest town is only a 15 minute drive.
Take a Salmon Fishing Charter for King Salmon in season or a side trip to
Loleta, situated on Table Bluff, where the Cheese Factory produces over 2
millions pounds of cheese each year. The historical town of Arcata
is only 30 minutes away and McKinleyville
with the world's largest totem pole is within minutes.
