Eureka California The City

Camping, kayaking, hiking, fishing
and beautiful scenery are all in Six Rivers National Forest, located

just 45 miles east of town. It has over 100 miles of trails and 360 miles of wild, scenic and recreational rivers.

Many also enjoy Sequoia Park with a 52-acre grove of virgin redwoods and formal gardens as well as the Sequoia Park Zoo, where you can visit "Bill" the chimpanzee, the oldest resident of the zoo born in 1946. Humboldt Bay Harbor offers tons of recreational activities from boating, fishing and hiking to exploring historic neighborhoods.

Museums
Blue Ox Millworks is a Victorian
woodworking mill still using machinery dating back to 1852. An annual festival is held in November.
The Clarke Memorial Museum situated in a 1912 bank building depicts the history of Humboldt County from the 1800's. Filled with memorabilia, the Samoa Cookhouse is the last cookhouse in the west. The museum displays the history of logging and cookhouses.

Shopping and Dining
A great shopping experience awaits at Bayshore Mall which includes over 95 stores, eateries and movie theaters. Several art galleries are located in the center of Old Town and the Indian Art Gallery focuses on art works by Native American artists and includes beautiful handmade jewelry.
There are over 30 restaurants in town for your dining pleasure from fast food to exquisite seafood dinners.

Parks and Recreation
Humboldt Redwoods State Park offers everything for the outdoor enthusiast from biking, hiking, fishing, camping and a host of special events throughout the year.
The Redwood National Park is a short distance from town and has a whole list of activities, ranger-led programs, auto tours through the park and many more opportunities await you at this scenic wonder.
Fairways lined with redwoods can give your golf game a challenge at the local 18 hole golf course.

The Arts
The Historic Eureka Theater for the Arts offers concerts, films and programs for all. The Redwood Curtain Theater has an array of plays every season and is located in the nearby Mall.
